Please note that we read the Revised Common Lectionary option each Sunday.  For your own comfort, you might want to familiarize yourself with the readings prior to your scheduled service. Please call your fellow readers or worship leaders for a substitute if you can’t make your assigned date.

What is a Worship Leader?

A Worship Leader is one who conducts public worship in the absence of a priest or deacon, serves as “Reader of the Word”, conducts Prayers of the People, serves as Chalice Bearer, and otherwise assists clergy at services.  She or he is licensed by the bishop upon the request of the rector.

There are some requirements of the Church Canons common to all licensed ministries.

1.      You must be a confirmed communicant in good standing.

2.      You must worship at regularly scheduled and special services.

3.      You are known to the treasurer as one who makes a responsible pledge.

4.      You have an identifiable ministry either in the church or in the world other than being a lay eucharistic minister.

In addition to the Core Requirements Worship Leaders should demonstrate a familiarity with the liturgical calendar and readings and be members of the congregation held in esteem for their visible and ongoing ministry, whether in the church or in the world.
